The March Against the Resolution

We had about 7,000 marching peacefully for human rights at the Prince William County Government Building yesterday. I marched with Unity in the Community, a group of faith-based people in the county concerned about social justice. I know some of the members of that group, including Illana Naylor-Barrett. The Unity in the Community banner says it all.

This was a family event with many people bringing their children, including babies just learning to walk. Charming Families agreed to pose for me.

Father Bob, a Franciscan monk based in Triangle, VA, is beloved by the people. While we walked along Prince William Parkway, drivers by honked insanely for this kind-hearted Christian man.

A few people from World Can't Wait showed up, as did some socialists handing out newspapers. Sadly there weren't that many ordinary non-Hispanics willing to take a stand for social justice.

Here is Ric Clark and his famous "Peace Bus" decked out in Spanish. This is the offical bus of the Prince William Peacemakers. Like the Peacemakers ourselves, the bus finds itself doing duty whereever there is justice to be served. She brought protestors from the metro on this day, since PWC is not on the metro. She will be taking the Peacemakers to the peace march in DC in a couple of weeks.
